This friendly yoga class is designed for the beginner/intermediate level student. It moves at a medium pace. New students are welcome to do a free trial class. Starting in the winter session, Ellie will be teaching themed classes (see descriptions below). Students will work on all categories of poses - seated poses, standing poses, twists, forward bends and backward bends, balancing poses, and inversions. Instructor Ellie Pickering teaches Iyengar-style yoga and provides an assortment of props for ease and comfort. All are welcome!

Class 1 - Moving Deeper into Downward Facing Dog
Understanding and implementing the subtleties of this very important pose, requires time and thoughtfulness. In this class, we will delve deeper into those subtleties in order to reap its bountiful benefits.
Class 2 - Integrating Pranayama into the Poses
Pranayama is the regulation of the breath through certain techniques and exercises. In yoga, it is thought that you can control your inner force, also know as prana, through a pranayama practice. Prana represents the physical forces of light, heat, magnetism, and energy. In this class, we will practice our breathing exercises and learn to integrate them with each pose.
Class 3 - Inversions to Promote Hormonal Regularity
It is well known that yoga inversions can impact our endocrine system. Our endocrine glands produce hormones that regulate hundreds of bodily functions such as growth, repair, and reproduction. In this class, we will safely explore a few inversions and learn how they affect the body.
Class 4 - Cooling and Calming the Spirit
Some yoga poses can create heat in the body and some poses can cool down the body. Cooling poses are generally calming poses. In this class, we will learn a number of poses that help to cool and calm the mind and body.
Class 5 - Jumping In and Out of Your Standing Poses
Although it is not necessary to jump in and out of your standing poses (especially if you have knee issues), it is still good to understand the mechanics on how to do it properly. In addition to working on a few standing poses, we will focus on how to build the strength and flexibility to jump in and out of poses.
Class 6 - Yoga Poses to Improve Your Sleep
Insomnia is a complicated problem that can be caused by many different issues. In this class, we will focus on poses that help to relieve stress, as well as, poses that help to expend nervous and unfocused energy in order to promote better sleep.
Class 7 - Restorative Yoga by Candlelight
This quiet and deeply relaxing class will focus on restorative poses...poses that heal and quiet the spirit. And yes...with real candles.
Class 8 - Yoga Sweet Yoga
As an avid baker, I love to share my creations with my students. This class is a student directed class where you get to choose your favorite pose and I will put them together in a mindful sequence. Afterwards....cake, pie, cookies, something deliciously sweet!
